HOW DO YOU CREATE A CLIMATE OF ACCEPTANCE?
 

Building a climate of acceptance in fraternities requires a commitment at all levels, ranging from individual members to the inter/national headquarters and including the university administration. The following checklists are suggested as a guide for creating a climate of acceptance in fraternities and sororities--a climate where a brother/sister who is gay/lesbian/bisexual may feel a sense of safety and support among his brothers/sisters.

ADVICE TO FRATERNITY & SORORITY PROFESSIONALS
 

Fraternity and sorority life professionals have a responsibility as student affairs specialists to provide support, programs and services for GLBT students. We must understand the environment in which we work, decide that we will support all students and create a coalition among fraternity and sorority life constituents to affect positive change for GLBT issues. My hope is to share some tips for fellow professionals to consider as part of their commitment to fraternity and sorority life.
