Rushed openly gay and didn’t get in? The Lambda 10
Project wants to hear about it. Came out to
fraternity brothers or sorority sisters and received
acceptance? Spill the details. The good, the bad and
the “oh, no, they didn’t!” all have a place in the
organization’s upcoming research project to share
the experiences of LGBT fraternity and sorority
members.

Press Release |

To understand the significance of Lambda 10’s ten-year anniversary, it is important to understand how far GLBT Greeks have come in that time: Ten years ago, few gay men or lesbian women felt safe coming out to their college fraternities or sororities, and virtually none rushed openly gay. Closeted GLBT fraternity and sorority members had no one to turn to for advice. And most fraternities and sororities still had not added sexual orientation to their anti-discrimination policies. Ten years later, we have seen positive
progress.

| John extended the love and acceptance I was

have imagined that our friendship, our bond, would
be so strong that I would be able to come out. John
was the only person outside of my family with whom I
had ever really been close. His response
started me on my personal journey to be openly gay.
